Prickly Pear
Explore ways to incorporate a variety of liquid and dry materials, special tools and an assortment of papers and techniques to add exciting textures and special effects to your paintings. We will learn to ‘think outside the box’ and experiment with materials that we find around us. Come ready to play and explore your creativity and imagination. Class consists of 6 sessions including, but not limited to, the following: Liquid Aids- water, frisket, rubbing alcohol and opaque white; Dry Helpers-salt, sand, plastic wrap, cardboard; Paper- 140#, 300#, hot and cold pressed, yupo; Special Tools-drinking straws, stamping, natural ingredients; Other Art Supplies-ink, colored pencils, crayons, markers; Special techniques-scrubbing out, spattering, scummbling, scraping out. Some painting experience helpful. Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30PM, Feb. 2-Mar. 9, 2010.

One Potato
Join friends and other artists for an informal and fun paint together. Bring a painting to work on, your painting supplies and a reference. I will supply coffee/tea, goodies, feedback and support. All levels welcomed. Saturdays, 10AM-noon, Feb. 13 & 27, Mar. 6 & 13, 2010. Cost: $20 per class.

Mountain Sunflowers
Learn basic techniques in watercolor painting; controlling paint, haloing, counterchange, what makes an interesting shape, what makes a good center of interest, drawing your images, edge control. Use these techniques and textures to paint Spring flowers, Spring trees and Spring clouds and skies. Some watercolor experience is recommended, but not necessary. Have fun. Leaf Shadows
Learn to add dimension and shape to objects by using form shadows. Add cast shadows to your paintings to add depth and interest. Understand the difference between the two and have fun! Some watercolor experience recommended, but not necessary. 1 Saturday, 9AM-noon, May 1, 2010.
